Media U (Digital Media Production)

In this course you will learn about the different stages of digital media production. This will also include discussion and review of the equipment required for production and the responsibilities of key individuals that will be involved in the digital media production.

During the course each student will be taught:

  • Understanding of how to operate a video camera
  • Basic principles of how to capture broadcast quality video and audio
  • How to tell a story by combining video and audio

The stages shall be broken down as follows:

  1. Pre-Production
  2. Production
  3. Post-Production

The pre-Production stage include everything you do before entering the studio or reaching the shooting location. Issues such as idea generation, research, scripting, and required equipment shall be arranged including set design etc..

For the Production stage, you will learn about what actually happens when you’re actually on the floor of the studio or on location, ready to shoot or are actually shooting. This includes managing any facilities in use, the handling of talent and crew members, and shooting without any hurdles and solving problems that they come up on the spot.

The third stage, Post-Production, of digital media production is when you get the final product. It includes cutting the recording visuals into the appropriate length, arranging the visuals in the proper sequence and use of the desired to text or music, followed by the final assembling of the entire production piece.
