The Empowerment Center USA was incorporated in April of 2015 as a non-for-profit corporation in Pennsylvania to serve the community of South Philadelphia by feeding the homeless and others experiencing food insecurity. Over time, other needs of the community were identified as being underserved such as workforce development, reentry of ex-offenders and personal finance. Such conditions encouraged the leadership of the organization to do more by increasing its resources and scope of services to provide additional value to communities in South Philadelphia and expanding its service delivery model to include the five – county region of the Delaware Valley.
Upon moving the offices of the Empowerment Center USA, Inc. to Darby, Pennsylvania in 2019, the focus of the business model shifted to meet demand in communities serviced in the following 3 key areas:
- Personal Income and Savings
- Digital Media Literacy
- Criminal Justice Reform
To support a more expansive scope of services, the organization applied for and was approved as a tax-exempt 501(c)3 corporation.
All programs participants of the Empowerment Center USA receive a Certificate of Achievement upon completion.
